Review:

DIVE TO THE NIGHT is weird. I mean, if you heard the song not knowing any of the material it relates to, you might not think so, but knowing the previous material makes it a little odd.

Basically, DIVE TO THE NIGHT is a Riyu solo cover of DIVE.... Sort of. The tune is vaguely similar, but the melody doesn't follow exactly. The lyrics have some similarities to the original DIVE (obviously the title as well, DIVE TO THE NIGHT being one of the lines in the refrain of original DIVE). But the feel of this song is very different.

All that sounds a bit negative, but I actually do like DIVE TO THE NIGHT. It throws you off a bit, but it's cool. I like Riyu's take on it, and it sure beats having another regular forgettable remix of DIVE (we already have some of those anyway, ~more deep & deeper, I'm looking at you).

Oh, and did I mention that there's a tribute to one of my favorite Naoki songs in this one? Near the end of the song she sings a couple lines from the refrain of the song "Can't Stop Fallin' In Love". I love how it was pulled off.

Overall, I think DIVE TO THE NIGHT isn't quite as good as DIVE, but it's still good and worth checking out! It's an interesting alternative to a remix.
